This popular NETFLIX documentary talks about the monetising of social media and how this impacts our children’s lives. This is suitable to watch with older tweens, and teens (especially if they use social media).

INTERNET FILTERING

Qustodio is a family internet filtering solution that can be purchased as a monthly or annual subscription. You set routines, block or approve sites and check your child’s internet browsing history. It is not as intuitive as Family Zone (which was my go-to app and taken over by Qustodio in 2023) but it does the job.

Canopy is an internet filtering solution that blocks harmful content, deters sexting, and is purchased with a monthly subscription. It is accredited under the Family Friendly Filter program in Australia. I have not used Canopy personally but it receives positive reviews.
